The Master Channel acts as a controller unless otherwise specified. Collecting and processing your data is the responsibility of The Master Channel.

What data do we collect on you?

The personal data that we collect (either directly from you or from your company, Cevora, or Febelfin) is the following:

  • Personal identification information such as name and email;


  • Course attendance & completion;


  • Employment information;


  • Course rating information;


  • Device information;


  • Electronic identity information such as device information;


  • Usage statistics;


  • Financial identity information;


  • Security information such as logs;


  • Subscription information;


  • Marketing campaign information;


Note that not all data is collected automatically, as sometimes your consent is required. This is explained in the next section.

Why do we collect this data?

We collect your data to deliver the best possible service we can after an account to The Master Channel has been requested. Specifically, we do this for the following categories:

1. Necessary for the performance of a contract

  • We follow up on course attendance and course completion information to provide you with the requested services and fulfill our contractual obligation, this way you can, for example, provide proof of your course attendance.


  • Your device information is collected to allow us to deliver virtual training in the best possible way to fulfill our contractual obligation.


  • Financial identity information is collected only in certain cases to offer access to the platform and to provide the requested services. This way we can fulfill our contractual obligations. It is used to process payments and to create invoices according to the Belgian VAT legislation.


  • Requested accounts are created based on personal identity information so we can enable access to our platform, provide requested services, and thus fulfill our contractual obligations.


  • We store security information to provide the requested services and fulfill our contractual obligations.


  • Information regarding your subscription to our platform is stored to deliver virtual training correctly so we can fulfill our contractual obligation.


2. Consent

  • Course ratings and testimonials can also be published on our website or be used for marketing purposes. This information is stored based on your consent.


  • Some device information is also collected to gather usage statistics, but if that is the case your consent will be asked.


  • Your electronic identity information is collected to analyze platform usage statistics after your consent has been provided.


  • We also use your electronic identity information for location-aware services and marketing, after your consent has been given.


  • If you so choose you can subscribe to receive regular updates to what’s happing at The Master Channel by providing your identity information.


3. Legitimate interest

  • Your course attendance and completion information are also used to suggest courses that may be of interest and to follow up on the relevance and quality of study material based on legitimate interest.


  • The main purpose of collecting course ratings is to monitor and improve the quality of our courses. This information is stored based on legitimate interests.


  • Security is an important concern for us and to prevent fraud we use your electronic identity information as well based on legitimate interest.


  • Your employment information is used mainly to validate applicability for subsidies and to offer these services to companies based on legitimate interests.


  • When you need support, we use your identification information based on a legitimate interest to provide you with a correct reply to your support question.


  • To follow up on the most effective marketing campaigns we gather information about which campaigns people encountered and how they reached our site. This information is stored based on legitimate interest, but the impact on the privacy of the subject is minimal.


  • Your subscription information is stored as well to make sure we only send emails and updates to people that are interested in this. Legitimate interest is assumed here to prevent a user from being enrolled in the mailing list, without wanting this.


  • When signing up you can provide us with information regarding your interests. This can be used to suggest related courses that may be of interest to you, based on legitimate interest.


  • Your usage information is used to analyze and gather course completion statistics based on legitimate interest. This way we can analyze our course performance and monitor the quality of our content.


  • We also store information about your usage on the platform to monitor our response times and FAQ effectiveness and improve our customer support, based on legitimate interest.


  • Other than that, we also use usage statistics to follow up on our most effective marketing campaigns based on legitimate interests.


If at any point in time, we want to use your data for other uses than those detailed above, we will always inform you in a timely fashion and before we start using your data for other uses.

What does legitimate interest mean here?

The previous section summed up the legitimate interests that we pursue. Legitimate interest is applicable when you can reasonably expect us to process your data for a certain cause, without it having a major impact on your privacy.

How long do we keep your data?

We will store your data no longer than is required for the stated purpose. We will keep your information while your account is active. It is possible to close your account at The Master Channel, when you do so, we no longer store nor process your data.

Thereafter, we may keep certain personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may also retain aggregate information for research purposes and to help us develop and improve our site and services. In that case, your data are archived and have only limited accessibility.

To which parties do we transfer your data?

We make use of the following processors. They only process (part) of your data at our instruction. There is a contractual obligation that these parties will never use your data for their own goals.

  • Service providers: The Master Channel transmits your data to its service providers. They provide support services such as infrastructure or IT services, conduct surveys, or help us for marketing purposes (only after consent).   • Controllers: The Master Channel transmits your data to a controller to carry out payment transactions via our services.

To which other countries do we transfer your data?

International data transfers are only allowed in case the countries are covered by the European Adequacy decision, or in case they provide appropriate safeguards like model clauses or binding corporate rules. Currently, some of your data may be transferred to the following countries:

Right to be informed

We are obligated to inform you of the processing that takes place concerning your data. This privacy policy is one of the ways to conform to this right. If desired, we can always explain the contents of this policy.

Right of access

Additionally, we are obligated to provide information with regards to the purposes of the processing, the recipients of your data, the storage period, the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, the source of the data, the transfer to third countries, and the optional existence of automated decision-making, including profiling.

Right to rectification

You have the right to request that we rectify and/or complete your data, in case you notice that there are missing and/or mistaken data.

Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)

The right the erasure is only applicable in certain cases. You can request erasure in case the processing is no longer concerning the purpose for which they were collected or otherwise processed. In case there is a lawful obligation to store your data, we will typically not be able to fulfill your request.

We will consider every request to erasure and will communicate the decision of this consideration to you.

Right to restriction of processing

The Master Channel does not participate in automated decision-making entailing legal consequences. This means that The Master Channel never uses your data to make decisions that can have legal consequences or far-reaching consequences without any human intervention.

Can you revoke your consent?

You can revoke your consent at any time. Of course, this revocation is only valid for personal data which we process based on your consent. In case we process your data on other lawful grounds, then this right does not apply.

Are you lawfully or contractually obligated to provide your personal data?

If you are a citizen of the EU, you are lawfully obligated to provide us with your country of residence for VAT calculation. If you do not oblige, we will not be able to fulfill your order and your order will be canceled.

Can this privacy policy be updated?

Based on changes to our internal services or changes in legislation and adequacy decisions, this privacy policy can be modified. New applications may be implemented to collect or use your data in another way. The Master Channel will inform you when such important changes occur, and we will solicit your consent when required before initiating the new processing.
