Masterclass AI - Part 5:
The ethical issues of AI

Part 5 of 5
AI is here, and it's here to stay. In the last couple of years, AI has woven itself into all our personal and professional lives. Yet big questions remain: Many still wonder how it actually works, what it can really do and whether it's truly ethical to use... Let's discuss all these questions in detail in our 5 (!) part course to tell you everything you need to know about AI.

In this fifth and final part, we'll explore everything you need to know about AI ethics. Together, we will examine how AI affects the environment, jobs, society, data, and governance, so you can better understand the responsibilities that come with using AI.

What will you learn?

AI is all around us: shaping how we work, live, and make decisions. Many of us already use it daily, often without realising it.
But the rapid rise of AI also raises big questions… like "Do we actually know what AI is or how it works? Are we using it to the fullest potential? And what about its ethics?"
That’s why we designed the five-part Masterclass AI for Professionals. Together, the courses take you from the basics to practical application and critical reflection. We start with the foundations, exploring what AI is and how it has evolved. Then we move into a deep dive on how AI systems actually work, followed by generative AI, where you’ll see how today’s most popular tools can be used in practice. Next, you’ll learn how to become an AI ambassador, spotting opportunities, prioritising ideas, and putting them into action. Finally, we close with the ethics of AI, understanding the risks, responsibilities, and impacts that come with this powerful technology.

This fifth and final part is about the ethics of AI. AI can bring many benefits, but it also raises important questions about fairness, responsibility, and impact. This course helps you understand these questions in a clear and practical way.

AI and its environment

AI may seem digital and invisible, but it has a real footprint on the planet. You’ll look at the environmental impact of AI, from the energy and water needed to train large models to the pollution and resource use that come with them.

AI and jobs

AI is changing the way we work. Some jobs may disappear, new roles will emerge, and many existing ones will evolve. You’ll explore the biggest questions around AI and employment, and reflect on what the future of work may look like in practice.

AI and society

AI does not only affect organisations, but society as a whole. You’ll examine the broader impact of AI, including the growing difficulty of telling what is real and what is AI-generated. The focus is on how AI may shape society in the short, medium, and long term.

AI and data

Data sits at the heart of every AI system, but it also raises important ethical questions. You’ll explore topics such as transparency, bias, explainability, and privacy. It helps you understand why the quality and fairness of data matter so much in the way AI systems make decisions.

AI and governance

As AI becomes more powerful, clear rules and responsibilities become more important. You’ll look at how governance helps keep AI under control and supports responsible use. You’ll also get an introduction to the key principles of the EU AI Act and what they mean in practice.
